The crash happened on Friday, Feb. 2 around 10:30 p.m., when a vehicle lost control at the intersection of Cook, Mile Square, and Homewood Avenues in Yonkers, according to Yonkers Police.

Arriving officers and first responders found that the car had struck a pair of utility poles before landing on its side in the intersection, causing wires and one of the poles to fall on the vehicle.

The driver was able to get out of the car before first responders arrived and was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation with a minor injury, police said.

Because of the complexity of the wreck and the challenge posed by the tangled power lines and fallen utility poles, the scene was not fully cleared and reopened until Sunday, Feb. 4 around 2 p.m., police said.

Authorities added that no criminal investigation was conducted into the crash.
